Sellafield Ltd

DCC and CHDC’s ongoing collaboration has led to a highly successful mixed Cloud and legacy system migration. DCC’s flexible and progressive approach to this digital transformation enabled them to work alongside CHDC in striving towards their organisational goal of achieving net zero, as well as breaking even within just 24 months and being able to withdraw from existing contracts in a managed way.
Department for Work and Pensions
The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) continue their evolving journey to a more efficient, cost-effective and digitalised state.
In 2016, the DWP started their digital migration via Crown Hosting in a three-stage remediation transformation. This was the largest business transformation project in Europe of its time. Not only did the migration save DWP (and consequently the taxpayer) money, it also offered more contractual flexibility and enabled them to become firmly aligned with the government’s Cloud First Policy.
Genomics England
Crown Hosting teams up with Genomics England, offering the correct data storage solution and assisting with the development of their flagship genome sequencing programme.
Genomics England was established in 2012 by the Department of Health (DoH) to deliver the 100,000 Genomes Project, which aims to lay the foundations for genetic research and help provide answers to the genetic causes of many diseases. To house 100,000 human genome sequences requires c10 terabytes of storage capacity, so creating a suitable data storage strategy solution presented a challenge. However, Crown Hosting offered efficient assistance by dealing with both the volume and security level of this data with due diligence and flawless project management.
NHS Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Luton ICT
Crown Hosting step in to “deliver the art of the impossible” via the simple, pre-procured Crown Hosting Framework, ensuring that NHS Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Luton ICT Shared Services (HBL) offers a more reliable and secure service to its patients.
Providing IT services to 210 GP practices, 9,000 users and 122 sites, HBL’s previous infrastructure was costing them money and presenting bi-weekly major incidents. Crown Hosting offered a clear framework including a transparent pricing plan, flexibility and security; all with 24/7 support available. This reliability in infrastructure means that the end user (patients needing care) can have confidence that they’re using a robust, flexible and dependable service.
NHS Health Research Authority
The Health Research Authority (HRA) continues to thrive with Crown Hosting.
Established in 2011, the HRA exists to provide a unified national system for the governance of health research. In 2017, the HRA took the decision to source a technology partner that could operate within Crown Hosting’s premises. More specifically, it was looking for a partner with flexible commercial terms, who could offer a highly secure solution as well as a responsive support service and cost savings. Using a procured Managed Service Provider (MSP), the Crown Hosting team were able to facilitate a seamless transition across to one of their data centres.
Office for National Statistics
Crown Hosting heads up digitalisation of the Office for National Statistics’ (ONS) legacy data.
Both Crown Hosting’s pricing structure and strategic alignment gave the ONS incentive to leave their previous data centre provider. The process was so uncomplicated that the ONS decided to allocate more racks than originally specified and have been particularly impressed by the fantastic level of service provided by the Crown Hosting team, the flexibility extended during the implementation process and the excellent value for money.

Sellafield Ltd
Sellafield Ltd doubles its existing Crown Hosting-run data centre space due to excellent communication, efficient responsiveness and exceptional levels of support.
Being government-approved, fit for purpose and user-friendly were all factors in why Sellafield Ltd elected to work with Crown Hosting when expanding their existing data centre space. This successful collaboration facilitated Sellafield Ltd’s Hosting Strategy by 5 years; an impressive accomplishment all round.
Torbay and South Devon NHS Trust
Torbay and South Devon NHS Trust have never looked back since making the move from their onsite data centre set up to Crown Hosting. Significant cost savings and excellent levels of service were major factors prompting the switch.
Torbay and South Devon NHS Trust provide health and social care services to people in their own homes or in their local community. They also run Torbay Hospital and five community hospitals, stretching from Dawlish to Brixham and employ around 9,000 staff.
